UNIVERSITY OF PATRAS (UPAT)

The Visualization and Virtual Reality Group of the University of Patras will focus on the biomechanical modeling and simulation utilizing their recent developments with respect to task space control of virtual physiological humans. It will also investigate the potential use of finite element models in the context of OActive, while they lead the activities related to gamification and augmented reality interventions.
SMARTEX S.R.L. (SMARTEX)

SMARTEX s.r.l is a small limited liability company founded in 1999. Core activity is the implementation of bio sensing apparels (Tshirts, bands, vests, etc.) able to monitor vital signals, as electrocardiograms, heart rate, respiration signal and rate, index of activity as well as bio-potentials like EMG. Moreover systems based on piezoresistive textile sensors allow acquiring biomechanical signals for the recognition of gesture and posture. Wearable apparel will be used in OActive to house inertial platforms and create a LAN.
KATHOLIEKE UNIVERSITEIT LEUVEN (KU Leuven)

Based on our experience in a 4-year longitudinal study on neuromuscular and biomechanical risk factors for progression of knee osteoarthritis, the KULeuven will participate in different work packages, including development of personalized neuromusculoskeletal models, the study of social determinants as well as the validation in clinical studies.
CENTER FOR TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH AND INNOVATION (CETRI)

CETRI is responsible for the project Innovation Management, that includes the management of knowledge & Intellectual Property and the developing of the project dissemination & exploitation strategies. CETRI is also leading the activities for the data management and the deep learning infrastructure and is also contributing in various other research activities
LEITAT TECHNOLOGICAL CENTER (LEITAT)

LEITAT offers the knowledge of professionals from different areas such as biomedicine, nanotechnology, biotechnology, smart systems, construction materials, renewable energy, energy harvesting, and environment, among others. In OActive, Leitat will lead WP4 and contribute in WP5, WP6, WP8, WP9 and WP10, being the main research on the qualification of OA-related exosomal and microbiome biomarkers. Firstly, already known biomarkers and under clinical validation processes will be included, as well as new biomarkers based on exosomal protein and nucleotide content and on microbiome will be defined.
FONDAZIONE RI.MED (RIMED)

Ri.MED will lead WP8 and contribute in WP3, WP9 and WP10. Specifically, in WP8 Ri.MED will utilize an innovative tissue-engineered human cell-based osteochondral bioreactor to validate in vitro the relationship between cellular responses of osteochondral tissue with diagnostic indicators such as soluble biomarkers and imaging data, thus providing information on one additional scale for the holistic modelling approach. Ri.MED research will account for the different biological responses in osteoarthritis between men and women and for the effects of rehabilitation on tissue health and protection from osteoarthritis.
TIME.LEX (Time.lex)
Country: Belgium
Time.lex will be in charge of ensuring compliance with IP laws / licensing, data protection and ethics. Will contribute in WP1, WP5, WP9 and WP10 and will lead T1.4, T6.7 and T9.3.
AXIA INNOVATION UG (AXIA)

AXIA Innovation is built from the synergy between four main service lines: Project Management, Innovation Management, Knowledge Transfer, and Communication & Design. Axia Innovation will be mainly involved in WP10 dealing with the OActive Dissemination Activities, including the Website creation and Media Presence, Dissemination material, Workshops, training seminars and the final OActive conference, leading Tasks T10.1, T10.3 and T10.5.
ANIMUS RECOVERY & REHABILITATION CENTRE (ANIMUS)

Animus Recovery & Rehabilitation Centre is contributed in one of the use cases by integrating the modelling and the consolidated user requirements (D2.1-2.2), customizing the OActive system architecture (D2.3) and developing a proper set of Key performance Indicators to evaluate the performance achieved. Each use case will be defined during its whole lifecycle identifying which performance can be measured with the demonstrators. Animus will lead WP2 and will contribute in WP3, WP4, WP5, WP6, WP7, WP8, WP9 and WP10.
FUNDACION PARA LA INVESTIGACION DEL HOSPITAL UNIVERSITARIO LA FE DE LA COMUNIDAD VALENCIANA (HULAFE)

The Health Research Institute Hospital La Fe promotes and encourages the excellence in research, scientific and technologic knowledge. La Fe’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department will contribute with clinical experience in evaluation, follow-up and treatment of osteoarthritis’ patients to the OActive project.
